Usnea barbata is a plant found growing on various hardwood trees throughout the world. It's main component, usnic acid, is considered to be a strong antibiotic, antifungal, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory agent. Lemon balm has been used for centuries for a myriad of conditions including as a healing herb for wounds and skin diseases. The ancient Greek physician Dioscorides recommended putting Lemon balm leaves on skin wounds an the roman physician Pliny regarded highly it's ability to stem bleeding.
